Defense of Avenweddon: Operation Stonewall

After suffering heavy losses on the eastern flank by Battle Group 525 the 4224th Imperial Guard army called a halt prior to the coming of winter. The Lord General wanted to ensure that all three Battle Groups would be able to make the final push into the peninsula in the spring and bring the Defense of Avenweddon to a close.  This would free up at least two of the Groups for further action within the sub-sector.  As to which of the Battle Groups would have to remain on Avenweddon for the cleansing no decision has yet been made.

During the winter months the Army used the time to regroup, rearm, resupply.  The order of business was primarily on regrouping and strengthening of the forward lines. Many of the Regiments in the army were drawn from planets within the sub-sector and therefor were reinforced without having to requisition further Imperial assets.

With the Army returned to a fighting capability, and supply lines secure the Lord General is making plans to restart the offensive. Intelligence reports that the enemy hardly could have reinforced in this time as the Navel* blockade reported no enemy ships in the sector.  Even if that is so, it will still be a rough slog forward as they no have no doubt dug themselves in deeper than ever before.  For the elements of BG82 this shouldn't be a problem as the right flank is more flat leading out to sea.  As for the other two Battle Groups...  Only time will tell.

* Yes that should be Naval as Siph points out below.  But well, I made the mistake I have to live with the mistake.  And besides I think it's funny. 

ToE 327th Infantry (Part 5)

The 2nd largest Regiment assigned to BG-82, the 327th Infantry has been assigned to the group since 668M41.  The Regiment is realitivly young, having been grounded in 666M41, but has had quite a disturbing past. In transit to the Departmento Munitorium rendezvous point the Regiment lost 66.6% of it's strength to Warp sickness.  It was immediately sent back to Fantoma where it quickly replenished its losses and then proceeded to Vallivar Sub-System to be assigned to BG-82.

Equipped with 21 Cargo Haulers and 13 Chimera's, the 327th is the most mobile of the Infantry Regiments currently assigned to the battle group. Two of their Infantry Companies are cross-trained in Mechanized operations and are often found working in close concert with the 73rd AR.   The rest of the Regiment has seen little direct combat action, instead they have taken up a security roll. Ensuring that fronts are held, and that gained ground will not be lost.

327th Fantoma Infantry Regiment

I've been working on a bit of my background "fluff" for BG-82, and decided that I would do up a command team from the 327th Infantry Regiment. Battle Group 82, has 5 regiments assigned to it under the command of Marshal Argos (myself).  Seeing that I have units from all of the others I thought it best to paint up at least one unit from the 327th. If for no other reason as to be able to say that I have one unit from every Regiment in my fluff.

Initial grounding of the Regiment, was delayed by unusual Warp activity in the region of space around Fantoma. Based on these anomalies it was decided to postpone all Grounding for until Warp had settled down and the everlasting light of the Emperor had returned to watch over the celebrations.  On its first deployment a troop transport carrying 66.6% of the Regiment never made it to the Departmento Munitorium rendezvous point, having been lost in the warp.  The following 2 years found the Regiment deploying throughout the neighboring sub-sectors to act primarily as a show of force to keep the local population true to the Emperor.

Permanently reassigned to Battle Group 82, the 327th has just recently transited in system and is preparing for deployment in the defense of Avenweddon.  This has been marked as a joyous day within the Regiment, as they will be fighting alongside 2 other Regiments from Fantoma, and that they have been assigned to the infamous Battle Group 82.
