Valdor P.I.P. Part 2

Well here's how she's looking so far. There a few touch ups that need to be done as well as painting her name “Kanonenwagen”. I just haven't decided where to put it? I thought either along the barrel or on the outside under the drivers hatch... hmmm...

I'm still waiting on my last order of bitz to arrive so that I can do the stowage and such. Even though that could be another week before it gets here I wanted to get as much done as possible before the weekend so that I can show it off at the next game. I some people weren't to impressed by the barrel, and to be honest if I ever build another I'll prolly make the end that goes into the tank a little bigger. The "Shooty"end though would stay the same, that's the one part that I really do like. I also think that if I repeat this project I'll finally make the switch over to Plasticard instead of cereal box as it would make the tank a little heavier. I half to remind myself when I pick it up that it's cardboard so I don't crush it.

Valdor P.I.P.

Well after an long, unwanted hiatus I'm back with an update to my Valdor scratch build. As you can see from the pics I just started the painting. Of course that doesn't mean that small details won't be added during the process the tank itself is done, painted on the SN this morning V.IV:0005. The pics are not the greatest so I won't go into to much detail, I hope to get better pics if the sun ever comes back out again...

Here's a pic of what's coming next SN's V.IV:0003 and V.IV:0004.

Sunday night update

Well I did most of the detailing this weekend and gave it a grey base coat. After a while I get lost in the sea of colors provided by all the different color cardboard, so I typically base it grey every now and then. All in all there's over 100 rivets on here, and let me tell ya that was was boring. As you can see most of the details come from GW bits, which you can get off the Tank acessory Sprue, or they are left overs from the bits box. What I couldn't find pre-made, I had to resort to paper to create.

The more that I stare at this thing the more I agree with others who have stated that the cannon is to small. Although I hate to tear it apart to fix/increase it's size the thought has been running through my mind as of late, we'll see how I feel tomorrow after sleeping on it for a night. Hope you all enjoyed the pics.

Valdor minor update.

Not much of an update really, but wanted to show the latest pics for the Valdor that I'm building. I added a little bit of detail and am waiting on the GreenStuff to cure so that I can make the rivets that all IG vehicles need.

The pic above shows off the right side and the power couplings. I made these using straws, and although they don't look as good as the original I think it works quite well. Next up will be the sponson on the other side.

This pic shows the rear of the tank and the engine coverings. Exhaust pipes come from the BB kit (fuel drums as well, just haven't glued them in place). Due to the holidays I really haven't had the chance to put as much work into this as I wanted. I still have 2 other Malcador Defenders that I'm building as well to go with the 2 Malcadors that I already have. In the end these will bring the total up to 5, and finish off the Super Heavy Detachment for my next Apoc game.

Valdor Update

Well after a nice 40k'less Christmas I got the chance to sit down and do a little work on the new Valdor SHT. The main gun is a combination out of tape, Marker pen, and Super Glue bottles. The rest of the tank, as can be seen is paper and cardboard.

The first pic is a front on shot, showing the drives hatch and gun mount. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the main gun or not, if something new catches my attention in the next few days I will prolly replace it. If not than it will be glued in place. Still have to do the cover though.

Next up is a view of the left side and where the gun will go. I cut out a place to mount the gun like the normal Malcadors just in case. My plan is to build a sponson like FW's and also make a normal one and see what I like better.

And lastly we have a view of the right side, here you get a little better view of the main gun. I'm still working on ideas on what to use to make the power couplings for the main gun. My best idea as of yet is to use straws, you know the bendy ones, I think they'll work pretty good in this case.

Well thats it for now, here's to hoping the bits I ordered get here soon so I can do a little more work later in the week. Comments are of welcome.

Scratchbuild Valdor WIP

So, after seeing the new FW Valdor pics (Link to FW) I just had to have one, and so the following pics show you the first hour of work. Why does it have to be christmas, and why does it have to interfere with me building this tank!!! SO, I hope to actually have this done before work starts on the 5th but we'll see what happens.

I'm not really sure how I'm going to build the main gun or the housing for it yet, so I hope to come with ideas, or better yet do any of you have ideas? The tracks and small details are not a problem, and I was thinking of using a pen and maybe hitting up a DIY store but I have wait a few days, darn holidays, and damn the Germans for closing all the stores at 8pm year round. I could be in walmart right now buying what I need, instead I can only dream.
